2. “calleth them all by their names” (Isaiah 40:26)

3. The purpose was...

a. “to give light upon the earth”
b. “for signs”
c. “and for seasons”
d. “and for days and years”
e. Genesis 1:14-15

4. What were the Stars to Signify?

a. How are they to serve as “signs” if that is what God intended?
b. They must be specifically placed by God
c. They must be placed in locations and combinations to serve the purpose designated by God
d. That purpose and meaning would need to be revealed to Man.

5. The “signs of the Zodiac” – “Mazzaroth”

a. The stars bear no resemblance to the named figures
b. Must have had pictures “assigned” to them
c. Star groupings as aids to remember the meaning assigned
d. Meanings to “signify” the message of the Creator
e. Served ancient generations as “Bible”
f. Could not have been obliterated by the Flood
g. Josephus:  Seth first recorded the “gospel” of the stars

6. Information in Job

a. Job 9:8-9 – “[God] alone spreadeth out the heavens…what maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleides, and the chambers of the south…”
b. Job 26:13 – “…by his Spirit he hath garnished the heavens,; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent”
c. Job 28:32 – “Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? Or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?

II. Nimrod – “Let us Rebel!”

A. Satan is the “father of lies” (John 8:44)

B. Could not obliterate the “signs” but could corrupt them

C. Nimrod becomes the key human “tool” to lead the rebellion against God

D. Satan and Nimrod “invent” the pagan worship of the angelic “host”

E. The Message is now the “Astrology” forecast system

F. The Idols worshiped are “demons” (1 Corinthians 10:20)

III. God Intervenes

A. A Powerful Satanic conspiracy is developing

B. Genesis 11:6 – “This they begin to do, and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do”

C. God forces the people to separate by confounding their spoken languages

D. Genesis 11:9 – “The LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth”

IV. Confusion of Tongues

A. God’s Purpose

2. Impede understanding of language

3. Force obedience to His command to spread over the earth

4. Results

a. Man spread abroad
b. Population groups isolated and inbred
c. “Racial” character quickly dominant

B. God’s Intervention

1. Explains “Races”

2. “Race not Bible term

3. Darwin: “favored races”

4. Results:

a. Population scatters – Family groups
b. Genetic isolation – Rapid dominant gene
c. Solidify physical characteristics
d. Language kept the lines isolated.
e. Explains “Cavemen”
f. Centralized “cities”
1) All lived together in Babel until dispersion
g. Forced disbursement
1) Probably weakest forced farthest away
2) Needed shelter – Needed food
3) Needed tools – Needed protection
4) Until replaced; Had knowledge of civilization
5) Primitive conditions lasted only short time

V. Original “Nations”

A. 70 “families” or “nations” are listed in Genesis 10 – “The Table of Nations”

1. 14 for Japheth

2. 30 for Ham

3. 26 for Shem

4. Several may have been only “city states”

5. Several became great nations known today

6. Over the Millennia the 70 nations have changed

7. There are some 200 nations today

8. There are some 6,600 languages and dialects spoken today

B. The Earth’s Nations

1. Genesis 9:19 – “…and of them [the sons of Noah] was the whole earth overspread,”

2. Genesis 10:5 – “…divided in their lands, every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations:”

3. Genesis 10:20 – “…after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.”

4. Genesis 10:25 – “…Peleg: for in his days was the earth divided…”

5. Genesis 10:31 – “…after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.”

6. Genesis 10:23 – “These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations; and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.”

C. God’s Sovereign Hand

1. Deuteronomy 32:26 – “…the most High divided to the nations their inheritance; he set the bounds of the people.”

2. Acts 17:26 – “All nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitations.”

D. Events at Babel Focus Our Age

1. God enforced division of mankind.

2. Babylon (Nimrod) becomes . . .

3. “The Mother of harlots and the abominations of the Earth.” – Revelation 17:5

5. Man-centered rebellion is at the center of all evil. – Romans 1:20-25

Romans 1:23, 25 – Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and. . . .changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever.
